Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What do I get out of entering?
First, you’ll get the opportunity to develop your idea into an executable business plan. To do this we’ll give you lots of training via the education manual, video workshops and on-line mentor forums. This will give you skills that you can apply to other aspects of your role and business. There’s also the chance to win awards and prizes for the business you represent.

Q. What sort of ideas are you looking for?
Put simply, we’re looking for ideas that could have a significant impact on your business. We’re not prescriptive about the amount of money the idea needs to make or save, but it must be something that other people get excited about. i.e. this is not about double sided printing or 1ply toilet paper. If our expectations are still unclear just get in contact and we’d be happy to talk through this.

Q. How do I come up with an idea?
We’ve pulled together lots of resources to help you come up with an idea.  The first thing to do is register your interest above. This will give you access to the (re)innovate challenge resources, where there are practical tools to help you identify opportunities and generate ideas. We’re also planning a series of free creativity workshops in October. Keep your eye on the News & Events page for more information.

Q. Who can enter?
(re)innovate challenge is open to any business with operations in Australia.  The majority of team members must be based in Australia. For more detail about entry requirements use the “Who Can Enter” button in the top navigation panel.

Q. How do we enter?
Once you’ve got an idea and a team together you can enter on-line using this website. Use the “Entry Process” button up above or this link to see the entry process.

Q. How many people do I need in my team?
The minimum number of people you need on a team is 2. The maximum number of team members is 5.

Q. What are the objectives of the (re)innovate challenge?
Frankly, not enough Australian businesses are trying to innovate (less than 40% according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics). We think one reason for this is that most businesses simply don’t know how to innovate – lots might talk about it, but few swing into action. The objectives of (re)innovate challenge are therefore to encourage more businesses to get innovative and to teach them how to do it.

Q. What are the rules?
See the Terms and Conditions of (re)innovate challenge here

Q. What are the prizes?
There are both State Awards and National Prizes for (re)innovate challenge. See them here

Q. Who will be the judges?
The judges will be an esteemed panel of Australian business experts. We haven’t appointed them all yet but a full listing will be up on this site well before the submission of final business plans.

Q. What measures are in place to protect Intellectual Property and Confidential Information?
The protection of IP and Confidential information is extremely important to the organisers of (re)innovate challenge. More details are provided in the Terms & Conditions and under the “Entry” button in the top navigation panel. In a nutshell, participating businesses retain absolute ownership of their IP and all (re)innovate challenge organisers, judges, mentors and partners are bound by strict confidentiality agreements. If you would like to discuss this further please just give us a call.
